Officers from the U.S. Capitol Police Officers have live surveillance cameras of the Pelosi’s San Francisco mansion, but on the night that David DePape allegedly attacked Paul Pelosi, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, they weren’t watching it, according to sources.
Officers were monitoring the cameras around the capitol complex, but have feeds for other areas away from the capitol, which include the Pelosi residence.
Sources told Fox News that an officer was monitoring the feeds and saw police lights on a dark street outside the Pelosi’s residence. When the officer began looking through surveillance feeds, the officer saw the alleged attack on Oct. 28, when DePape allegedly struck Paul Pelosi with a hammer, according to the source.

Nancy Pelosi’s security detail weren’t at the residence when the attack occurred, as the House Speaker wasn’t in San Francisco.
Sources say that Capitol Police pay less attention to security cameras when one of its protectees is away. Had the officers been observing the feed, they would have seen DePape break into the building, and may have prevented the incident.
San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins declined to answer a question about a possible security alarm system in place at the Pelosi residence, but confirmed, “There was no security present,” in response to the question from a reporter.
DePape faces several felony charges in relation to the incident, which left Pelosi severely injured, including attempted murder, residential burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and elder abuse, among others. Pelosi had to undergo surgery to repair a skull fracture in addition to other injuries.
DePape pleaded guilty to the state-level charges on Monday, and faces federal charges in addition
DePape broke into the residence through a glass door in the rear of the Pelosi’s house and entered a bedroom where Pelosi was sleeping according to Jenkins. Pelosi was able to escape to a bathroom and call 911.
Police said that when officers arrived, they observed Pelosi and DePape struggling over a hammer, and that, when told to drop the hammer, DePape attacked Pelosi, striking him at least once.
DePape brought kidnapping supplies with him to the Pelosi residence such as zip ties, as well as at least two hammers, according to Jenkins, who said the attack appears to be politically motivated.
